Master Degree Programmes and Requirements

All Programmes leading to the award of Master Degree at WACCM require thesis writing except the master of Divinity. The M.Div is a professional Degree programme that accepts applications from any student whose first degree is not in Theological or Biblical studies. The other Masters programmes are academic programme that require thesis of 6 semesters hours before graduation.

THE M.A IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

The masters of Arts in Christian Education (M.A.C.E) is designed to prepare student for a vocational of nurture formation, and life span disciple ship in the church as well as in tertiary academic instructions. Graduate will be equipped to provide leadership for educational ministries that effectively seek to “present Every one mature before Christ”. At the end of this programme, students shall:

  1. Articulate a theology of educational ministry which is based on a sound biblical understanding faith.
  2. Understand the human development, individual gifts and differences and the teaching/ learning process.
  3. Recruit, disciple, equip and empower the laity for education ministries of the church.
  4. Demonstrate competence in leading, teaching disciple and mentoring which is grounded in their theology of ministry.

M.A. IN PASTORAL COUNSELLING

The master of art in pastoral counselling is designed for pastors and Christian leaders who plan to pursue courses in counselling ministry both within and outside the church. It is also designed for those who want to work as chaplains in hospitals, the military, prison, etc. The professional Christian counsellors will be equipped through the basic counselling theologies, techniques and practice of Christian counselling. The programme will equip the student to:

  1. Utilize and apply self understanding personal faith and moral reflection as he/ she works with others.
  2. Understand the use of scripture and theology as foundational for the practice of counseling.
  3. Apply various counseling principles, techniques and clinical skills in church and Para church settings.
  4. Carry out a professional Christian counseling service both in the church context and outside the church context.

The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies is an academic programme designed to foster the knowledge of the student in Bible and Theology. It is also designed for those who want to pursue higher studies in Bible and Theology. At the end of the programme each student would be able to:

The master of Theology programme is a higher academic programme designed as preparatory towards a Ph. D. In a Theological Studies. It is a two year degree programme that requires a more superior academic performance in a previous B.A or M.A programme. Graduates of this programme will be able to:

MASTER OF DIVINITY PROGRAMME (M.DIV.)

The Master of Divinity Programme is professional Masters degree programme designed primarily for pastors, chaplains and Christian leaders whose first degree is not in theology or bible. It is a three-year programme that gives wider exposure to biblical, historical, mission-logical as well as practical theology needed for those called into full time church related ministries. The objectives of the course are:

To formulate a theological basis for ministry/vocation 

To communicate on effective application of biblical truths.

To guide and counsel others in need or in crises so they can hear and respond to the voice of God. To assist Christian become God’s mouth piece in the mission field or any other missionary venture. To enable Christian leaders administer and manage efficiently and effectively.

To research issues and opportunities using a variety of means in the choice of solutions to complex situations .
